My Journey to Osteopathy
I'm passionate about helping people achieve their best health, and my journey to becoming an Osteopath has been quite an adventure!
Back in 1995, I dove into my Bachelor of Science with Honors in Applied and Human Biology at Birmingham University in the UK. Those three years were incredible – I was fascinated by everything from clinical medicine to endocrinology and pharmacology. What I loved most was developing my research skills, which opened up a whole world of emerging trends in science and healthcare that I'm still excited to explore today.
The moment I graduated in 1998, I knew exactly what I wanted to do next! I immediately started my Osteopathic studies in London, embarking on an intensive 5-year BScHons degree program. After eight full years at university, I was thrilled to finally start my career in 2003. I threw myself into the work, practicing six days a week across various osteopathic and medical centre’s throughout England and Wales. Every day brought new learning opportunities and the chance to gain invaluable experience.
In 2007, I took a big leap and emigrated to New Zealand – what an adventure that was! Of course, this meant going through their rigorous recertification process and sitting those challenging final exams all over again, but it was worth it to continue doing what I love in such a beautiful country.
What drives my passion for osteopathy is our holistic approach – I get to treat you as a whole person, not just your symptoms. This calling started early in my life when I had the privilege of volunteering in care homes and hospitals, working alongside people with learning disabilities. I was also fortunate enough to gain work experience at Bupa Hospital, which was eye-opening and inspiring.
Growing up surrounded by family members in medicine, music, and pastoral care shaped my perspective from a young age. These influences helped me develop that essential osteopathic mindset – seeing the beautiful connections between physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
I love what I do, and I'm here to help you on your journey to better health!
