Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What happens during my first osteopathy visit?

We’ll take a detailed medical history and review any relevant test results (X-rays, MRIs, etc.). You’ll then be examined, and we’ll discuss a diagnosis and treatment plan. Please wear loose clothing or be prepared to remove heavier items. An adult must accompany under-16s.
Initial consult: Allow: 60 mins | Follow-ups: 30 mins

Q: How many treatments will I need?

It varies based on your condition and how long it’s been present. Most people feel some relief after the first session, with gradual improvement over time. You’ll also receive advice, exercises, or stretches to support recovery and prevent recurrence.

Q: Are you an ACC provider? Can you lodge a claim?

Yes.  No GP referral is needed. If your injury occurred in the last 28 days, you can complete the ACC claim at the clinic. For existing claims (within 12 months), bring your ACC45 number and treatment history.

Q: Is osteopathy safe?

Yes, osteopathy is generally very safe. Practitioners are fully trained and regulated by the Osteopathic Council of New Zealand. Serious side effects are infrequent. Osteopaths carefully assess each case to minimise unnecessary risk.

Q: What inspired you to become an osteopath?

After witnessing a practitioner help my mother following an injury during a family hike, I became interested in healthcare. My background in Applied & Human Biology deepened that passion, especially in identifying undiagnosed conditions early and guiding patients toward the proper care.

Q. Will my insurance approve the treatment?

Jennifer Levick Osteopathy is an Affiliated Provider for Southern Cross Easy Claim.  If your insurance policy covers osteopathic treatment, your sessions should be approved.  Please contact your insurance provider directly to confirm your level of cover.
